F10 M5 'comfort access'

I know this may have been covered previously, but can the 'comfort access/keyless go' system on an F10 M5 be deactivated by the owner? If so, how ?

I have just purchased the car and am having a TRACKER fitted, but would like to get rid of the 'keyless go' if I can by turning it off.

Don't fancy the idea of it being stolen by an 'oik' in a hoody with a box of electronics picking up the signal from the key when I am in bed.!! As read about on PH, most major newspapers and Youtube !!

Can't you just keep the key in an RFID pouch? Works for me.

What is an RFID pouch and where do I get one from, and do they actually work ? Sorry if I appear ignorant but none of my previous cars have had this feature which the thieves seem to be exploiting.....

All my cars have comfort access bar one. We just keep our keys in a tin at the back of the house. Even with the tin up against the car windows they can't detect the keys.

I just use a key pouch too. I don't park the car outside the house (London, on street parking...) but it's a bit of extra peace of mind.

Fitting a tracker is a waste of money, they can be disabled in 1 minute flat for £10.

Maybe i'm missing something, but you can't start the car in any other way so surely disabling is not an option?

You can disable the proximity door unlock part without affecting the keyless start.

tell him Dan gave you his number. He did my M3 2 weeks ago. Only difference is you have to press the button now on the key, proximity sensor is disabled. making it effectively the same as a car without comfort access

he also turned off active sound and various other software updates for me. Eg, latest spec engine and diff software

all done via a laptop into your OBD and all OEM spec

for anyone REALLy worried about theft, an Autowatch Ghost is worth considering.

Carly and an OBD dongle (bluetooth for Android, wifi for iphone) will let you do this.

Sorry to be jumping on this thread, but I just want to know a bit more about comfort access (don't really like the idea of being able to get in the car without pressing any buttons to unlock the car and all the security issues around it etc).

If I'm in the car (with the key inside) and want to lock the doors from the inside, will someone from the outside be still be able to open the doors? So basically, anytime the key is close to the car, ANYONE could jump inside the car?

Don’t think so. I have an F10M5 with comfort access and you can set the doors to lock when you drive off and they stay locked unless you cut the engine or press the button on the centre console to unlock. Anyone walking up to the car and pulling the door handle doesn’t get in....

M5 owner with comfort access car left on my driveway every night, both sets of keys live in RFID bags and I have Autowatch Ghost fitted which IMHO is brillant as even if the theives have the keys they cannot start the car. £400 well spent.

You don't need your keys in an RFID bag if you have Autowatch, surely?
