GTS Centrelock bolts fading
Discussion
Hi all
My 2015 911 has the black centre lock wheels but the lock part is fading and now a washed out grey colour. Porsche tell me to not covered by extended warranty but as it's only a few weeks outside manufacturers warranty I've asked them to reconsider. I've then been told it's not covered under manufacturers warranty either and isn't a know fault or manufacturing defect. When pressed the Porsche service guy said I shouldn't have used alloy wheel cleaning solution however the manual states that this is ok as long as not too high a ph solution.
Does anyone else have or has had a similar problem?
Cheers

If you have had it cleaned at a hand wash it will have done it as they generally use high PH traffic film remover....
They never look as good as new on pick up even with a neutral cleaner used. I have always pondered on greasing them after the wash / detail using a brush and a bit of 3-1 oil. Can’t beat a bit of moisturiser can you ..If you go to a hand car wash, they will damage your centrelocks and brake hubs (they go rusty) with their acid cleaner. Porsche will NOT fix this under warranty as they know what is causing it (i've been through this debate with them). Also note that if you go to hand wash, the water they use has probably cleaned 10 cars before yours (including dirty 4x4s and Vans!). I avoid now.

From your message it is clear that you have had the dis ussion and not had yours replaced. This does not mean that nobody has. It seems that it is a debate with your local OPC and the outcome varies. IMac said:

I did a deal with my OPC - but I recognised it could have been my fault as well.Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
