Im still waiting for my blue book and need some advice please.

What changes are allowed in the un modified sprinting categories?

I thought you could change almost anything apart from engine, gearbox and any thing which effects the cars silloutte from hubs up but I just read somewhere that the ride hieght must also remain the same. Is this correct?

Am I also correct in the other mods? Hoping engine/exhaust/wheel/tyre mods are OK.

try this, classes A1-A4 are the ones I think you are referring to. If it doesnt say you can do it, treat it like you can't!

It varies depending which championship you're with. But there will normally be one category where almost no modifications at all are allowed, and another where there is a long list of things you are not allowed to change (including silhouette above the wheels etc) but you can cange anything else. And there is usually a category where it just has to be vaguely car-ish. As a novice, the more standard you can keep it the better.

Thanks guys, that link is great. Its better detailed than my motor clubs one!

For anyone else researching, it states:
d) SUSPENSION.
Suspension must be of the same type and method of operation as that offered by the manufacturer for the vehicle. Shock absorbers are free as to type, method of operation and position of location. The addition or change of anti-roll bar(s), anti-tramp bar(s) and stabilising bar(s) is allowed.
e) WHEELS.
Wheel sizes are free but must all be of the same diameter, unless different diameters are fitted as standard by the manufacturer.

Thank feck for that!
Not too sure about the tyres though, need to be a 55 profile. Could prove tricky!
Back to ebay for wheels!

If you're thinking of sprinting your Griff, we now have a TVR series and anything goes providing you keep the organiser informed. My first sprint this w/end

Thanks but its not the Griff.
However that might appeal next year if Im not so affraid of using it for sprinting and can afford the uprated suspension and brakes to make it competitive.

What do you drive? I usualy watch the sprint events at Goodwood. (One next week too).

My Griff. It's taken a while for me to pluck up the courage to sprint in my P & J. I keep telling myself it's all just a bit of fun and I don't need to try to win. Trouble is if the red mist descends all that common sense might go out of the window...

The exact same thoughts as I have been having!

Keep thinking its just a bit of fun but I know that on the day that red mist will roll in!

I did 7 TVRCC Speed events last year and wish I'd started years ago. Family problems mean I haven't done any yet this year, but I'm registered for Silverstone & Loton Park.

My advice to DustyC is to go for it, ASAP. Life's too short not to. You can always get insurance for the events where there's not much runoff (£150/event for my Chim from Competition Car Insurance) and I put a couple of grand aside for a damage budget....

Too late!
Just bought my first sprint/trackday/etc car!

Kept the Griff though.

See you at a sprint event soon (if I have the car ready!). This car is just for a bit of fun. There is no way I expect to win anything!

i presume its the CRX? good stuff, they are rapid cars and easily modified so i shouldnt think you will be too far off the pace. have fun, which championship/s are you planning to run in?
