Also read the report on the Mondeo,

"I’VE just spent the day driving Ford’s new 150mph Mondeo.

Even though it’s burdened with all sorts of safety and environmental equipment, it’s actually faster than the old fire-spitting Sierra Cosworth. But nobody’s going to buy one.

It’s not because some of the plastic on the centre console is a little shoddy.

It’s not because the seatbelt warning device is a bit annoying.

And it’s not because you have to pay £300 extra for something called “performance blue paint”. I didn’t know blue paint made a car go faster either.

No, nobody’s going to buy one because for the same money – £22,750 – you could have a BMW 318i instead.

Sure, the BMW is much, much slower, smaller, and less well equipped but that’s the world we live in these days.

If Ian Duncan Smith nailed a blue and white circular badge to his forehead, he’d get himself elected."

wow.. £60million quid.. you could revolutionise the NHS with that kind of investment...

..perhaps we could have "injury cameras" whereby people seen injuring someone or thmselves get fined £60 and that goes in the NHS pot... I'd give up paying my 12% national insurance for that

I wish the MAD guys luck (where do I sign up ?). If it ended up being unprofitable because of the need to replace cameras then the tax collectors may give up. I often have foreign workmates in my car from France, USA etc and they are all surprised at the fact that we put up with them at all.

Hmm. 3500 killed on the roads per year, and cameras raise £60m for 'safety'.

On the radio this morning, they anticipate 30,000 deaths per year from obesity and related diseases.

Maybe we need McCameras detecting inappropriate quantities of fries, and a six month ban on Big Macs following totting up.

Curry houses to have width restrictions on the doorways to stop congestion.

And signs up outside student bars selling alcopops saying 'Twenty's Plenty'.

I reckon we should start our own Chapters of MAD in our towns and cities .... what a great charity to support! Our own!

Sometimes, the Government is wrong. Of course, a good government will listen to the views of those it is supposed to represent and act.

But we don’t have a good government. We have a bunch of self-important, jumped-up, bitchy, arrogant, power-crazed fools who listen only to the Lycra-Nazi sandalistas of Islington.
So if the only way of getting their attention is to destroy the tools that pay for their junkets and their new wallpaper, then so be it.

Well said!!!

Whilst I agree with all comments made, (and another camera has been flamed in Northampton!), this action does pose further questions. Most of us have Geodesys etc, so have a good idea where they are. The camera operators/owners will tire of this action and go underground. Any one with any sense will not in future leave £20k of equipment on the side of the road, they will want to lock it away at night. The easiest way to do this will be to put it in a van, so we may well be rid of fixed cameras, but have more Scamera vans. These are much, much harder to detect, and we won't know where they are from day to day.

So instead of loosing a £20K camera, they get a £20K camera and a £15K van trashed Well, they've got to park somewhere at night...
