Mrs C has wanted another 'small' car for pottering around in ever since I finally persuaded her out of her Beetle Cabrio a couple of years back.

We live in zone 2 so the introduction of the T charge and ULEZ means that this could make some sense now.

I couldn't bear the idea of a Fiat 500/BMW Mini like every other household in SW London have as their runaround and was thinking of the Mito twinair. What do people think of them?

Great engine, totally the wrong car.

It really suits the 500. The 105 Bhp unit makes for a great sub Abarth but the standard 85 bhp like I had for over 2 years was also excellent.

MiTo is too big/heavy really. It just doesn’t work.

Ive driven two mitos, both with 1.4 turbos, ive never driven a twinair, but i cant imagine the result of putting a twinair in a mito will be an alfa-worthy car, even though i currently drive a slower alfa myself...

that said, if you like the looks of the mito, and it suits your practical needs and is quick enough, by all means.

The turbo TA should be fun enough, especially with the car in Dynamic mode, i just dont think i could get over the two cilinder noise

My wife has just bought her second Mito Twinair after running a 500 TwinAir. That’s about seven years of twin pot motoring and about 80,000 Miles. She loves them. Living in West Wales, the roads are empty enough to be in the right gear at the right time. In London this may be different. Having said that, the interior is a nice place to be and a real upgrade from the Fiat. We tend to leave it in dynamic mode, unless pootling along following tractors and caravans.

Only problem to date was a windscreen washer hose parting company. Nothing more than routine servicing and tyres.

I think they are cracking little engines, which have character and a great sound. I would love to see one in a really lightweight sports car.

Here’s her latest squeeze.

We have a MiTo Twin-Air as well.

The previous comments pretty much hit it on the nail. The engine is the bottom end of what is needed for the MiTo. Out of dynamic mode it feels laboured when accelerating. In dynamic though it works. Not the fastest but revvy enough for fun. You need to watch the first couple of gears though it spins through them surprisingly quickly.

Steering is very Alfa. Nice and responsive when moving, especially in dynamic, but the turning circle can be a pain when parking. Especially if you've not driven it for a while.

Ours was bought from new just under 2 years ago and is close to 10k miles now. No costs other than fuel, tax, and insurance.

If we were going for another MiTo we'd probably look at a 1.4 rather than the Twin-Air again. Just that bit more power.

My daughter was originally keen on a 500 but then took a fancy to a Mito. Bought her the twin air. No it’s not a sports car despite the badge, but if you want something a bit different they are fine little cars. Engine noise has a certain character. Not fast so overtaking on a motorway needs judgement but lively enough elsewhere.
