Ok, who was watching Jeremy give Billy Liar a right toasting? You could tell Phony Tony was nervous from the outset, he almost looked like a rabbit trapped in the headlights.
I knew it was going to be good when Jeremy opened with "Before I start Mr Blair, is there anything you would like to apologise about?" and then left him sitting there. Oh boy was I smiling. Bliar nearly lost it over the whole Iraq thing.
When we got onto the question "Do you know how many illegals are in the country?" Phony Tony refused even to guess....
At the end, Paxman just smiled politely and said "Thank you Mr. Blair" From the look on Bliars face, you would have thought Paxman had just butt
ed his sister while he was forced to watch!
Some of the best TV I have seen in ages.

I watched most of it ..and I agree Axeman had Blair squirming now and again ..but he is not the Axeman of old.....he didnt push his points home hard enough.
Blair has got away with yet again.
I thought the most amusing part was the obligatory end of interview pleasantries once the mics go off.
You know, interviewer smiles and says 'well done' or 'how did you find it'. Interviewee smiles back and small talk ensues.
However, Bliar looked mortified, wouldn't look at Paxman and was obviously riled. He just shook his head and gritted his teeth. Most amusing to see him squirm so much.

Thought Paxman really missed his chance - that "anything to apologise about" opening was so predictable and so weak. It just wasted a bunch of time that could have been better spent on other issues.
Iraq is a non-issue now - unless your there or are close/related to someone who is.
Digging over who said what and how much sex was in the document is futile at this stage.
Have to say that in my view Blair came out of it undamaged and he nailed the issue of standing for the full term which seems to be the oppositions' principal point of attack rcently.
Unless something dramatic happens we've got Blair for another term albeit with a reduced majority.

I'm not a fan of Bliar, but you've got to afford him some respect for going on there in the first place. He had more to lose than to gain.
Now what we really need to stir up the apathetic are some no holds barred televised debates between the party leaders a bit like those between Bush and Kerry only with fisticuffs allowed and featuring the deancers from Spearmint Rhino.

You forget war was supported by all parties what would a conservative government have done differently? Perhaps the greater crime is to do nothing, however where does it all end? There are conflicts everywhere , during the bosnian crisis the UN acted too late in many respects .what is the happy medium? There are no winners in any war situation, there is also far more to the war in iraq than we know or will probably ever know. Ask yourself this ,no Prime Minister would take a country to war unless there were sound reason, would they risk political suicide on sketchy evidence, Or the alienation from other countries? Any way Mr Howard is far more irritating can't wait to see his butt toasted , mm and his face on loosing the election!!!

This is not true. There are a very large number of voters who will now not vote Labour in protest at the war.
Silly, I know, as almost any British Government would have done the same - but Blair's lot were in power at the time and wars are not popular.

OK, perhaps 10,000 people who vote will protest and not vote labour - fart in a thunderstorm proportions, anyway.
