Key fob starting issue
Discussion
Hi
For the past 6 years I get in my car , put the key in the ignition, turn first click the dash light comes on, then press the key's button and the pump starts and the car will start .
Now with key in ignition and ignition turned to fist click the key button does not start the pump or allow the starer to turn.
If I use the dash fob thingy and poke the plastic fob in it works fine, If I lock and then unlock the car key in hand it works fine.
So what has changed , I used to get in ( car never locked its in a locked garage always) Put key in turn first click , then push button on key than it would let me start . But no more .
What do you think

Are you saying that the fob still locks and unlocks the car? But just won’t disarm the immobiliser? I’d start by changing the fob battery for a new one anyway as this is the simplest and cheapest thing to try.
If that doesn’t do the trick then I would start by checking the connections between your alarm unit and immobiliser.

Not quite no, I have amended my post to make it clearer. The key button works to lock and unlock the car , the key button does not turn off the immoboliser when the key is in the ignition and pressed. It used to . Thanks for your reply. If that doesn’t do the trick then I would start by checking the connections between your alarm unit and immobiliser.
