Sitting here with almost every channel focused on 9/11 and there is a newsflash.

Apparently someone tried to take over another american airlines plane in the states but was overpowered by the air marshalls. I haven't left my apartment all day(mainly because I can't be ar$3d) but I had a feeling someone, somewhere would try something.

Now they are showing something about extremists in London. Fill me in chaps!

It would appear that a marshall mistook a comb for an offensive weapon. This is another case of media over dramatisation.

I think the two stories below are of the same incident, but its bloody difficult to tell!!

From the BBC
A security alert led an American Airlines jet bound for Dallas to return to Houston Intercontinental Airport shortly after takeoff, Reuters news agency reports.

"It appears to be an attempted hijacking, but I do not have that confirmed," FBI agent Robert Doguim said in an interview with television station KHOU-TV in Houston, Reuters says.

News reports said passengers saw two men carrying what appeared to be a weapon, possibly a folding knife. Two men were reportedly taken into custody."

How about the two guys who very recently smuggled a petrol driven generator onto a BA flight, only discovered when a flight attendant smelt petrol and looked under the seat!

Know what you mean about it being difficult to tell. The stories vary so I thought I'd post what they were saying in NYC and see how it filtered through in the U.K. When it came on it was serious news. After hearing about the comb they haven't shown too much more here.

P.S Flying from Asia to NYC I noticed they stopped issuing metal knives with the meals and only offer plastic ones(seems fair). Only problem is that they gave us metal knives which could be as deadly. Logic, please?

Interestingly the coverage that was on bbc.co.uk and cnn.com last night (brief report, "more details to follow") have disappeared this morning.
