Aren't they phasing out the Zetecs and bringing back Kents only???, i.e. dumping the 'new' engine in exchange for the 'old' engine.

Not sure if it's on cost grounds, but I'm sure I've read this somewhere, possibly Motorsport News

Excellent news if you ask me, let the Zetecs have there own festival, quite a few championships are allowing you to run Kent engines in newer chassis these days...

It's basically because there are many more Kents in "active service" at the minute as the Kent formula has had an amazing upturn in popularity. There are even lots of Zetec cars being converted to Kent spec. They are more likely to get full grids with Kents than Zetecs.

They're not bringing in Kent engines, they're apparently ditching the 1800cc Zetec and replacing it with a 1600cc Duratec engine. I've also heard a return to treaded tyres mooted. Sort of FF1600 with a modern engine

This I guess could well bring down the costs of getting on the first rung of the motorsport ladder.
