Spotted: Jaguar XJ220

At about 17:45 on the A30 as it passes through Hook, Hants.

I saw the XJ220 at its launch at the 1986 Birmingham Motor Show, but I've never seen one on the road.

It's bloody enormous, isn't it? Especially in Black (or a very dark colour that looked black)

As I was in the Chimaera I gave him a flash (of the headlights, that is) and was rewarded with a slight nod. How very gracious of him.

Huge isn't the word. One went by me on Gloucester Rd last summer. Always see one at a track day but seeing them on the road is something else. Back end isn't a pretty but they are a rare and refreshing sight.

Wasn't the engine based on the turbocharged V6 from the Metro 6R4? Which itself is derived from the Rover V8?
