Brooklands Airfield - anyone flown in ?

Brooklands? it has a road through the middle off the runway + a massive car showroom at one end, or am I missing something obvious?

A mate delivered a Vimy replica to Brooklands, landing on a grass strip - must be nearly 10 years ago now - but I'm not sure if the strip is even still there.

There's been no airfield at Brooklands for years.

Wellington Way now cuts across the middle of the old runway site, with the Mercedes Benz World Test Track covering one half, and a kids playground and a BMX/Skate Park on the other half.

I thought that there was a small grass strip still there for special occasions - such as a Moth fly in thy had a while ago.

I was working there at the time (The Heights) - I remember the trees being taken out either side of the road across to M&S.

The grass strip is very much still operational. 10 (?) Tiger Moths flew in & back out last October.

As above - there's a 500m grass strip between the MB test track and the River Wey, used for fly ins and special events. Very much PPR obviously.

It is still referred to sometimes as "Brooklands Airfield" even though it is only rarely used for actual flying. It's an historic term in the context of Brooklands. There are literally hundreds of airfields in the UK which are no longer operational - but still referred to as airfields.

People also sometimes refer to Brooklands Race Circuit - although no racing has gone on there on the circuit since 1939.
