Posted this in the 'South Coast' section but as that's not exactly lively, thought I'd post it here as well. I'm going down to the New Forest this weekend and I've been looking on the net for pubs to drink or grab a bite to eat in but can't really find that much. Does anybody have any recommendations of places in the area?

Myself and a few mates are going to be staying in Fordingbridge for a friends 30th birthday and I was planning on a taking the Griffith down there and stopping for a bite to eat for Friday lunch and then we'll be going out on the sauce Friday and Saturday night for plenty of

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers - Chris.

Brockenhurst is a nice (but growing) crossroads village/town, try the Balmer Lawn just outside town. Lymington (on the coast) is ok too.

It's the PH on the C-road nearest the centre of the village!

I stayed in that Balmer Lawn Hotel for a weekend a few years back.
A lovely place and good food, but it was a bit pricey.

My favourite for lunch is 'Montys' - The Lord Montague in Beaulieu. Lovely pub, nice food, afterwars go for a nose round the garage at some seriously nice old cars.

Just don't go in the middle of tourist season...

the pub in the middle of fordingbridge isnt a bad start - nicely placed on the bank of the river and food is half decent.

Cheers for the replies!

Meeting up with about 20-30 people at the New Forest Inn and then going to the pub in Fordingbridge which had been recommended to me by some people at work anyway.

Should hopefully be a great weekend.

Cheers Chris.
