Yes I know this is the Porsche forum but the Alpine A110 seems to have good early reviews in the press and would appear to be a genuine competitor to the 718 Boxter/ Cayman.

The write ups give plaudits for its light weight and handling, as well as equipment over a "standard" Cayman.

I think Renault even had a Cayman and an Audi TT on hand at the launch to allow journalists to compare. Must have been confident.

Wonder what this will do for future 718 sales? Wonder what it will do to future 718 developments?

I love well thought out and written responses like this. Motoring journlist quality.

Not just because I agree with it but because it puts it in perspective of the real world these car companies operate in.

Well as usual, being a disagreeable chap, I completely disagree. I think that blip is completely overstating the case. It'll get nowhere near as big as a blip biggrin

It's interesting to read about the Alpine and watch the catchpole vid on the car. Also gettign feedback from someone I know who has looked at it, my guess is that it's going to be a bit of a failure. But that depends a bit on how renault defines success! But I know nothing!

Well I hope it does well.

There's nothing better than good competition to develop the market ....

Will it worry Porsche ? Maybe not, but if it doesn't keep them on their toes then they aren't the company I think they are ....

Personally, I think a major flaw is the way the Alpine looks.

Also, no manual so for me I’d not consider it.

Also agree with Jeremy. A blip as opposed to a contender
