Hi All

Am going to be designing and painting a logo to go on my boyfriends race car.

Is there any such material that you can buy and use as a stencil, that will stick to the car whilst you spray paint over it, and not damage paint work when removed?

What sort of area do you want to cover. Most of us cheat and make up the artwork on the computer (photoshop, coreldraw etc) and send off to local sticker printer place who will then use their magic printer to produce and trim the logos.

We cover a 1m square area using this method - and when he prangs it, you just pay £40 for another sticker .

Mine is only black and white (OK, it is grey cut out of the background), but the sky is the limit. The dunlop car in our series is done the same way and that is a little more adventurous!

Its to cover a 16" wide x 16' strip over the top of the car from front to back. Am going to spray a checked flag effect in chrome the length of it. God I must love it... It will probably involve sticking each square individually on as a stencil.

I used stickyback plastic not so long ago when i painted black spots on a red beetle. You have to seal you basecoat with one coat of laquer though first. But you can cut all the shapes out of the plastic before sticking it on the car.
