Am I being thick or are there no Hillclimb venues in the east midlands?

I want to take part but don't want to have to drive an hour+ for even testing.

There's certainly plenty of hills!!

I think the majority of Motorsport competitors need to travel at least an hour to get to a venue unless they are lucky to leave close by, ( I'm 15 minutes to Harewood but everywhere else is much further ). I'd think Harewood is a good option from East Midlands as straight up the A1 and off at Wetherby. Also sprints at Blyton Park near Grantham. Can't be far from Prescot and Shelsley also so you're prob better placed than many.

the majority of the east midlands is...well...flat! cambs, Lincs, etc etc and its not that hilly elsewhere. Hills yes, but not really long hills, enough for, say a 1mile climb. The upside, of course if the flat landscape allowed for many airfields in WW2, which are noe silverstone etc etc

Curborough sprint course shouldn't be too far away.. but no hillclimbs in the East Midlands.

I live literally 1 mile from Donington Park, Also I know the owner of Mallory quite well.

Maybe I should start looking at sprint instead...

The main problem for me, like a lot of people, is space: I don't have space to park a transporter + car + towing car.
Hence why i'd like somewhere close that i could drive to, have a play and drive home (assuming i dont drive into a wall)

Track days are boring, I want something genuinely competitive.

I used to race Rotax Max Karts you see, I need that rush again.....

I'm a good 1.5-2 hour drive from Shelsley walsh actually. About the same to Harewood, a good hour to Blyton Park.

Basically "well placed" a long way from everywhere!

IF I was fully committed to a race series and had the space, vehicles, trailer, money etc then yes possibly.

I would love to race a single-venue series that only did Donington, that would be frickin' awesome.

Me too, as I also live 1 mile from Donington. It is possible to rent storage in the area relatively cheaply and it is also possible to race a few times a year at just Donington and Mallory if you pick your car carefully and are prepared to be a member of 2 or 3 clubs, say CSCC, 750 and MSVR.

You could also rent drives in 2 driver races.

Finally, there is the possibility a series of all comers sports v saloon races at Mallory in the not too distant future.

I'm also wondering this, paid storage is MASSIVELY expensive, for what it is.

I've been looking for a reasonably priced "unit" locally for ages, where are you from?

I live in Castle Donington.

I pay £40 per car for storage. Unfortunately we are full but you could ask at the Caravan Storage place at Kings Newton and its also worth asking all the local farmers if they have space.
