Audi A3 3.2l V6 quattro diff problem ??

We now have a horrendous rotational noise coming from the back of the car. It has got worse over the last few months. To begin with no-one knew what it was ( Audi dealers in France are useless ! ), we changed the cv joints, but it is not that, we have new tyres on the back and 1 year old ones on the front so it is not the wheels. Someone has now suggested it is the rear diff..... Anyone had the same problem ? I expect a new one from Audi will be mega money so looking for a second hand one......

There was a chap on here with a MK5 R32 with the same problem. I can't remember where we got to with the 'internet diagnostics' but I'm sure the rear brakes or wheel bearings were a factor in it. Have a dig through the posts and see if you can find it.
