Driving - Dubai to Ireland

Hello,
I figured this may be the best place to ask to this......
I am going to be based in Dubai/Abu Dhabi for the foreseeable starting from Jan with a residency visa inbound. I will be able to have take the "hot months" off so I plan on doing some travel or driving as the case may be.
I have my eye on a Dodge Challenger or something similar and I am thinking about driving it back from Dubai to Ireland at the start of June. Now, I am a little bit aware that driving the full route may not be advisable (looking for this advice) and it may be better to ship the car a bit closer to Greece, Italy or Croatia and start my drive from there, my question to you guys is, do you have any experience in doing any of the above?
Also, is insurance easy to obtain that will cover me driving a UAE registered car across Europe for 3/4 months? Cost?
There appears to be the potential at least to cover all costs (if not a bit more) in importing and selling the car when I arrive home however driving the route back in September in the car is also very possible.
Any and all advice is very much welcomed.

Are you on facebook? If so, search for and join Tims Travel Truck. Very well known (and super friendly/helpful) petrolhead who’s created an overland group and will shortly be driving his truck from Dubai to Germany. Tim or others on there will have all the answers and the info. will be the most recent.

This is great. What a read and most definitely opened my eyes to a new route. It seems to be achievable and the best way to go is to ferry to Bandar Abbas and then home from there.......http://www.backroads.ie/forums/showthread.php?1580...
