Visited the JCW Showroom today to order new Works mini.
Found out they can actually create 300 bhp for the mini !
They offer a kit thats slightly more powerful than the 210 BHP kit at 245 bhp which costs an additional £3,500 approx.

Has anyone experienced this kit ? If so what is your opinion on the additional performance ?
Im due for a drive in this version next wait and cant wait.
Down side is that the kit only has a years warranty in stead of the JCW standard 210 kit which keeps within the 3 years if buying a new car.

A further £3,500 seem like a lot of money! This is when it is time to change the car, for something with around 250-300bhp which has some style to.

I know of a guy who bought a Cooper S (BMW) as a competition car, he couldn't get the power down as it was, let alone increasing it. He got something RWD, I'm sure that the engine would be better off in the back for a car of that weight/power/balance.

I reckon you would achieve more stripping the crap out of a BMW mini, rather than opting for a more powerful engine. Weight is the killer.

My Mrs has the 2005 S Works (is that 210bhp I can't remember) and I reckon it struggles enough putting that power down never mind another 30hp. And £3500 would bring the price (of mine at least) to well over £30k....

At that money I'd be looking at an Alfa GTA which comes with that as standard, looks better, has a far nicer interior and IMvHO more kudos...

...or something with RWD or 4WD to get the power down more effectively.

agreed...or even a fully specced 3.2 S-Line A3, TT V6, 330CI, exige (!), 350Z or Clio V6 and save £5k on each, and that's just the brand new stuff - the list goes on! (But 'er indoors wouldnt have anything but a Mini...).
