One for the Gallardo owners
Discussion
How did you check it?
The correct procedure is to run the car untill its hot and then check it. Also has your dip stick been updated, should have 3 notches if so.
My service dealer was quite concerned when I asked about the correct oil level. Since Lambo still havent produced the correct language manuals, I had no idea what the notches meant.
According to him they've had problems with owners over filling the G's with oil. Hence the extra notch to adjust the levels measured. Alot of people apparently check the oil cold.
He also said it shouldn't need oil between service.

The owners manual says the Gallardo can use up to one litre of oil for every 1000km and the level must be checked regularly. I've done 22,000km and it doesn't use a litre per 1,000km , but it certainly needs several top ups between services (12,000 km apart).
With the 3 mark dipsticks, the oil level shouldn't exceend the middle mark. As you say, the engine must be hot (although not overhot as this causes frothing which makes reading difficult) and the dipstick should be pushed in fully to get the correct measure.
