65 plate VW GTD
Discussion
I have one, it will be 4 yrs old in March. I've done 71k so far, averaged 45.5mpg. Nice comfortable place to be, nippy enough for most occasions and the diesel sound is pretty well insultated most of the time.
My leather seats are showing their age a little...a bit of a bum sag mark and they take much longer to warm up than the cloth ones in my 66 plate GTD. Have had 3 new heating elements in the drivers seat base for some reason.
Tyres are ok - about 18-20k on the fronts although the last set only lasted 10k.
Dynaudio is fantastic - so much more range than the standard system ( this is ok really, but dynaudio is better as you'd expect ).
What else ? My parking sensors go off all the time, as does the radar braking which I find very dangerous. It may just me my other GTD doesn't behave like that.

The TT I've got now seems to have almost burnt through a set of fronts in under 12k miles. Maybe it's an MQB chassis thing.damianmkv said:

My 15-plate did that, very annoying at times! But the radar was great when working properly and meant my motorway commute was effortless with DSG and Adaptive Cruise. I've got one on a 63 plate, had it a year and done around 22k. Original Contis on the rear lasted til 40k when I binned them with plenty of tread as they'd gone out of shape and I couldn't stand the road noise any more. Agree with the parking sensors most annoying feature by far when they go off in traffic, my radar braking has surprised me once and I've adjusted around it.
I guess it's competent enough but I don't find it very quick, coming from a quattro it's taken a while to get used to the lack of front grip. The radio is annoying, is there any way to auto search for a load of stations and display them in a list to choose which one to listen to - I can only manually search tnen add to the stored stations. The leather seats are quite comfy but have sagged slightly, and I find the door arm rests are the wrong height.
Not sure I'd have another one but I'm in no rush to get rid either while it's reliable, it's been quite nice binning a fairly recent Audi that needed regular corrective maintenance to a car I just need to have serviced and put diesel in.

Had a 15 plate for 2 years. Only issue was a oil pressure switch fixed under warranty. Used to get 47mpg average over the 2 years. I didn't like the power delivery and never really got the hang of it, maybe just not a diesel fan coming from a civic type r.
A nice place to sit with plenty of comfortsm but No pause/mute on the steering wheel was a pain.

Hi all
Ive just purchased a 65 plate GTD with all the gadgets that I hope to have in a few weeks.
Does anyone have any reviews/thoughts on the car?
Thanks
I’ve got a 2015 GTD DSG which I’ve had from new, mine has standard nav, winter pack and keyless go. I’ve done 40,000 trouble free miles and it really is probably one of the best all round cars I’ve ever owned. I’ll change it next year as I run it through my company but I’m tempted to just order another one but this time with leather and a panoramic roof.Ive just purchased a 65 plate GTD with all the gadgets that I hope to have in a few weeks.

We've had our manual 64 plate from new, and the wife plans to keep it.
It's a very good all round car. If I'm being picky, I'd still prefer a proper handbrake, and the original Bridgestone's didn't impress me much (but are easily replaced if you feel the same). The rear camera is excellent.

I’ve had my GTD a year in which time it has clocked up 28k miles.
It’s been a very rewarding car to run. Performance is pretty impressive for a 4 pot diesel, great combination of handling and ride, comfort is great on long trips, and it works as a family car too.
I’ve averaged 47mpg, front tyres replaced at 18k miles , rears still to be replaced .
The replacement Michelin PS4s are hugely better in the wet than the original Bridgestones.
They’ll be going on the back when the tears need doing.
Everything works pretty well, though I find the sat nav a bit fiddly and a lot less intuitive than that in my old F30 BMW 320d.
The only issues I’ve had was the alarm going off intermittently which was cured be turning the sensitivity down and a a blank infotainment screen which was cured by a software update and hasn’t reoccurred.
This is a company car, but I’d happily buy one privately .
