Hi guys,
My cowling that attaches to the back of the instrument panel has come loose, any suggestions for refitting it? I see that it’s glued in but Is this the best option and if so, what glue would I use?

Mine had originally been stuck with clear silicone when I bought it but it didn't hold very long. I re-did it with araldite which held a bit better. The last time it was re-fitted, after carbon skinning, I used PU adhesive and that has been the best result so far.

Is it quite a common fault?

YES!!
I tried Velcro glued to the alloy front and to the 'swage' on the cover - worked for a while then the impact adhesive got tired and had to think again.

I've now got a bracket made from 2mm x 25mm ali flat bar held onto the plastic cover by the central post for the shift light mount. The bracket has a 90 deg. 'clip' which clips over the alloy pod surround (After a bit of bending and fettling).

I've polished the bracket - so looks good IMHO, and does stop that unsightly gap between the cover and pod surround.

Mine has done this for years now, glued it back in place with some contact glue but it always comes off eventually.
