I have an incoming TAG Heuer which I won in a charity raffle, however the only thing I know about it is the serial number. Is there any way to identify the model/variant from the serial number?

Mine is AE713944. Any ideas?

Post a picture of it. I'm sure someone here will be able to identify it.

Don't even have a photo, this is all the info I have frown

I have an inkling that its a TAG Formula 1 quartz chronograph but that comes in two case sizes so doesn't really narrow it down.

Well here it is. It's a CJ1111.BA0576 Link Chronograph, not bad for a £20 ticket.

It's well used and needs a clean-up but apparantly it has been back to TAG for a service. No box or papers (do TAG reissue papers?)

Any ideas what it's worth once cleaned/polished up?

Needs a bloody good polish......!

Ignore the brand snobs, you like it, that's all that matters.

Merry Christmas!!

To be honest I don't love it. I was going to give it to my Dad for Christmas but he didn't seem keen. I might clean it up, chop it in and put it towards the Nomos I want.

Went to the Estate Agent today and the sales guy had a black Carrera chronograph. I was like "typical"!

Got it cleaned up a bit and looks a lot better

Chrono 24 seems to have these at about £1000 in mint condition with box/papers down to £500 for a shoddy one without. I think mine is at the lower end so £800 is reasonable. Do you think this is realistic?

Happy New Year!

Wow, you have done a great job cleaning that up. Did you do it yourself? If so how did you polish the scratches out the bezel?

I personally think £800 is a little too high. Watchfinder has one for £995, which is marked up due to them being a physical store/business with overheads. Their example also comes with box, papers and a one year warranty. However that doesn't mean the WF example will sell ...

Same model that sold on eBay a few days ago - No box or papers - £381:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TAG-Heuer-Men-039-s-CJ1...

Another sold in the US on eBay a few days ago - Box - c.£411:

Essentially, it's worth what someone is willing to pay. I guess it also depends on how fast you want to sell it? As it's in good condition, I'd try £500 and go from there. However it's a really nice looking piece now that it's been re-polished! Congrats on the win! smile

Thanks for your replies. It did polish up nicely. I didn't do it myself but I didn't want to spend a fortune so I took it to a cheapy little watch repairer in Woking and they did a really good job without charging me the earth.

Thinking about the above maybe £800 is a little hopeful. I'd be happy with £500 or so. I'll take some nice photos and list it somewhere and see what happens.

Do you mind me asking how much? I've got a 12 year old aqua racer that isn't quite as badly scratched but certainly needs doing.

I'm quite impressed how well that appears to have scrubbed up, for what it now owes you I'd be just wearing it as one of my 'daily's' as TAG's don't have the best resale in the world especially with little provenance/box/papers/etc, but it's not an unpleasant looking thing, GLWTS.

I agree with the posters above. I would be wearing that as a daily beater. You wont get a better watch for the price it would sell for. Keep it and enjoy it.
