1994 205 1.9gti miami blue resto

After about 7 years sitting unloved and with values increasing the brother in-law decided his 205 needed a bit of a freshen up. Itsy relatively low mileage example and is known to us from new. A couple of years ago I gave it a top end refresh due to a corroded head gasket so the engine is sound. One thing led to another and eventually led to it being stripped and hopefully off for a small bit of welding and paint in the next month or so. It's fairly rust free with only minor surface rust and a couple of spots that require welding. No major holes found just yet apart from a seam on the firewall. The plans are to return it to as original as possible apart from keeping it lowered and a tasty exhaust. Being registered in 1994 and a sunroof model it's apparently fairly rare. Pics to follow

The most worrying section of rust. On the shopping list is a genuine nearside wing and I good set of arches and trims.

1994 is pretty late. Non sunroof tends to be more sought after however, less chance for leaks!

Miami blue is the best colour, and it looks very clean. Only welding my '89 needed was under the rear seats like yours.

yeah I fitted bbm engine mounts to it a few years back. Looking forward to getting paint on it soon

A couple of before pics. It was in fairly good order. Along with sourcing good trims and arches and a good genuine nearside wing, wheel colour is the biggest talking point now. Anthracite or fully polished

God I miss my Miami 1.6!

However, been rebuilding my Miami 106 XSi with red inserts for the plastics - shall be a fine replacement!

Sourcing trims isn't straightforward. Apparently the Peugeot museum are going to do a run at some point. There is a place doing non gen replacemts on eBay. Think I'll probably try and recon mine first and buy new red inserts to freshen them up. They are available at the pug museum. That's After it's been painted and had the rotten sills sorted. A project on the back burner for now.

The Museum in France do in fact do replacement red inserts, I got some two years ago, I can't remember how much they are but even posted to the UK they were relatively cheap.

Identical to the original part. They do a few other bits too.

Whenever I see threads like these I have to kick myself over the 1.9 I declined for £500 about 10 years ago. It was in pretty good order and had a LAD conversion, with flowed head, cam etc. It supposedly made about 170bhp (no idea how true that claim was though) and went really well. If honest, the interior was just a bit too lurid for me but I wish I hadn't let it put me off buying.

Colour looks great OP. Are they rare in this blue? I prefer the non sunroof too. Oh and my vote is for anthracite.

I'm not sure on the rarity of the blue but it seems to be very desirable. The car is my brother in-laws. He's a very busy man and I have easily put up the most mileage in it. Agreed on the anthracite. And the bog basic interior. But a cracking car overall

I always liked grey wheels with a polished rim on the miami blue but given what prices are doing it's probably worth keeping half an eye on originality and just sticking with silver wheels!

It's not a car that will ever be sold he has it over ten years and has covered less than 1000 miles a year in his ownership. It was originally bought with oz superlegs and lexus lights. Plastidip could be an option for the wheel colour if it looks rubbish just peel it off

Currently rebuilding my black 205 1.6 too. Although it’s far from standard when I bought it so it’ll stay that way. Currently has an S16 engine in it but being replaced by a GTI 6 engine.
