It is just extraordinary. I have done a fair bit of offshore racing and I find this type of effort almost inconceivable - I can't believe how an individual handle the continuous stress of sustained speeds in excess of 25 knots.

Agreed. In 'technology' I would also include weather modelling and routeing. He made a comment on arrival that if he had left three hours later he might not have caught the right systems in the South Atlantic to take him around.
