Got up this morning and got to my Tiv to find it totally covered in leaves, berries and general garden waste

Not surprising you might say since the car is outside

However, last week we cut down all the trees that overhang the driveway to avoid this very problem.

FunkyGibboness commented that the pile of ex-trees (which is nowhere near the car) looks like it's collapsed and been generally kicked about.

So it appears that some scrote(s) got into our garden (climbed over locked gates) last night and picked up a load of leaves and berries etc and dumped them on the car.

BA$TARDS

Why do people do things like this?

Thankfully there doesn't appear to be any damage, but I bet there's a few new scratches to deal with.

Seriously pi$$ed off Dave.

It's a pain I know but I'd be relieved that's all they did. Some wag once stuffed a load of leaves into the fuel tank of the TR - that was a real bundle of laughs to sort out.

Sorry to hear about this - be thankful you got away so light. The s***s can do much worse.

Time to upgrade Garden security. A programme of cultivating sharp spiny plants around the walls/fences should help a bit. Some nice rusty barbed wire around the top of the fence (where hands coming over would grab) underneath the sharp spiny plants (so you don't have to look at it) would help too...

I think it may not be legal put spikes on the top of your fence. But you could always *repair* it "quite badly" with some nails.....

After their recent break-in, my folks were advised by the BiB to attach carpet grippers to the back of the garden gate... just where you would hold if trying to climb over.

Hmm, I like the sound of that

Might be cheaper than getting armed guards to the ba$tards.

Still, the scum who cuts his hands on your gatepost or whatever can then sue you.. Unless you have a clearly visible sign stating the measures you've taken, IIRC...

Perhaps a PH lawyer could comment.. ?

Many years ago we lived on a farm and had guard dogs. We posted signs saying "Beware of the Dog".

One day a scrote breaks into the yard and gets bitten. He duly reports this to the BiB. Ultimatley we get ordered to put the dog down because the sign was an admission to that fact that we knew the dog was dangerous.

Had the sign read "Beware of Guard Dog" dear old Ben would still be alive.

The deterrent effect of Rose bushes and hawthorne hedges is often overlooked. A good dense spiky shrubbery is every bit as effective as barbed wire, and you can't be sued for it.

I suppose the PC mob will try to have it banned.

Oh, dont get me started on dull / dim people! Left my car (not the TVR thankfully) on the road rather than the drive for a couple of days - no other reason other than the large skip taking up some serious space. Anyway, come out to the car and discover the windscreen smashed - well badly cracked really and not punched through. Pi55ed off I go to see local plod. He's very helpful and after a discussion we come to the conclusion that it is likely that it WASNT a stone, but malicious damage!!!

Anyway, call the insurance company and windscreen people to get it fixed. They come out and fix it (thanks did an excellent job there) and have a quick chat over a cup of tea - turns out that THREE cars on the same night had windscreens smashed as well as a couple of fences pushed over!!!! Why on earth do people do this???

Called the local plod again and guess what - nothing. Not a dicky bird.... Guess there is not much they can do, but come on people. Average bonded screen is something like £350 each (with £50 coming from the individual involved as an excess). So we are looking at nearly £1000.00 of criminal damage.... how much needs to be done before they do anything...??

Cheers,

Paul

There's a set of garages on this road, and one Saturday night every other garage (for some reason!) was broken into and shedloads of stuff stolen. The police came out after I called them, but several other residents were told to report it again the next day when there'd be someone in to deal with it. Net result: nothing. Apart from a nice letter saying "so sorry to hear you've been the victim of a crime...".

And if you're reading this, the who nicked the spare 911 wheels, I'd quite like 'em back...

Used to park the car on the road, the work horse not the Griff.
Got up one morning to find some joker had stuffed their redundant kebab under my windscreen wipers and shoved a large cone on to the roof - leaving me with some lovely scratches in the paintwork from all the gravel on the bottom of the cone.
Another day I came out to a scratch along the side from the rear quarterlight to the drivers door.

What you may ask was the amazing vehicle which I was being punished for owning - a Fiat Punto!!!!!!! Aaarrrghhhh.

Punto now has rented garage of it's own and it much happier.

I'd be glad to; kill them with that well known life restrictor, DEATH.

And if you're going to do a Tony Martin for Gawd's sake don't forget to make sure you can demonstrate decent injuries which justified your extreme retribution.

That way C.I.D will smile and treat you to an extremely frothy cappuccino...

Don't suppose it was anything at all to do with the violent winds that thrashed the country last night...?

said problem would be simply cured with a car cover maybe? I know if the TR is left parked outside at night she always gets a cover. Then they thin that it's just some meldrew who loves his Rover 400 a bit too much ratehr than being someone's shiny Tivver. I know its not gonna stop someone messing with it but it will hide the shape of the car and maybe make them take no interest in it.

Personally I'd rather shoot the :censored" with a machine gun but they don't take indly to that over thewre do they?

good luck with it

I thought about that but only the car was covered, the surrounding driveway and paths were clear, as was next door's car.

Plus it was obvious that someone had disturbed the pile of ex-trees as the smaller pieces of rubbish were held firmly in place with very large (and heavy)branches, sheltered from the wind between a shed and a fence. I found these strewn across the lawn

I've got a Leven cover for the roof, but I think I may invest in a full cover, got to be worth it in the long run.

If you want to modify the property to include some nice spikes along the top of the fence, or barbed wire or sommat, best thing to do is to have a chat with a solicitor and get them to advise on appropriate singage to ensure you don't get prosecuted.

Whole heartedly agree that the PC mob have ruined our society, IMHO who cares if the burglar / intruder hurts themselves / gets shot... rough justice I say!

As for the story about Ben the dog... my heart goes out to you on that one... happened to the Podie household when I was a kid. (I even ended up getting a Police caution since I kept on posting pics of our dog with "murderer" on the back and generally giving the intruder grief.
