Fraudulent PH related text messages - beware!!

Hi All - just thought I would mention that since I have advertised my car on PH Classified (choosing not to hide my number), I have received a fraudulent text message saying that my payment was not processed and I needed to click the link to rectify the situation.
Based on the timing of the text, had I not been savvy with this stuff (years of working in cyber security makes you paranoid), it could have caught me out !!

Recently sold a car via PH ads and chose to hide my number because it was a no-brainer to avoid it ending up on a spam/scam list. It is kind of why the service exists, is it not?!
In fairness to the OP, if PH is still using the rip-off Phonesafe service, I would appreciate seeing a normal number on an ad.
What I do when posting something for sale online is to buy a PAYG card and stick it in an old phone. Then when it rings I know it's for the ad. When it's sold the card gets binned.
I appreciate that this probably wouldn't be a good system for someone who sells a lot of stuff online.

No - as said, the number exists so that they can charge prospective buyers a fortune to call - looks like it's currently 37.5p/minute from landlines, and 55p to 75p /minute from mobiles depending on network.So a 10 minute call to ask about the car could easily cost you £7.50...
That would put me right off as a buyer, and I'd always email rather than calling if it's a PhoneSafe number - for me you might as well just not have a phone number listed at all if you're going to use a PhoneSafe one.
