Neighbours Driving Us Mad!

We have recently moved into our first flat. It’s a new 3 storey building and we have the a flat on the top storey. Below us live a couple, who, until the past 2/3 weeks have been perfect. The building is always quiet apart from a few noises every now and again, but you expect those, living in flats.
It all started a few Fridays ago. My g/f works Saturdays so we had gone to bed at midnight. We were awoken at 3:30am by the couple below, who had lost their key and were kicking at the front door, trying to force it. They then started to buzz some of the other flats, which are still vacant and generally made a commotion until they finally broke the door in and got into their flat. They then continued to make noise for a couple of hours. The door lock on the main access door had to be replaced and 12 new keys issued which had to be paid for out of the service charge. It was clear it was them, but I thought it would just be a one off, and its not really cricket to grass them in to the landlord.
However last Sunday we were again woken up early in the morning by them rowing, which is still ongoing, as every time she gets in, words are exchanged very loudly! They then, for the rest of the afternoon, and all night until about midnight SLAM around. The doors are fire doors so are hinged to shut and they just let them bang. He also has started to play his chavvy ‘hard house’ or whatever it is…
So.. what to do??

You're right. We had this problem a long time ago, spoke to the people in the flat above us who were really noisy, they didn't even realise the sound transmitted so clearly through the walls/floors.
After that, they had a few 'moments', but don't we all.

You don't want to talk to them both together mate, the bloke will never go for it, wait till the girlfriend is alone and you might be able to tempt her...

Seriously though, i suggest that if they are rowing they will have things on thier mind. Both of you should go down and have a quite word about the noise. Make sure both of them are there, the girlfriend will respond much better, I can garentee it. Also if your girlfriend is there and the bloke answers, he is much less likely to kick off in front of a woman.
Don't be confrontational, just be friendly and polite. That should embaress them into being quite.

Seriously though, i suggest that if they are rowing they will have things on thier mind. Both of you should go down and have a quite word about the noise. Make sure both of them are there, the girlfriend will respond much better, I can garentee it. mine cuts my hedge for me at the required height for him,even though the sodding hedge is all on MY land.

even better he only cuts half the top...........but its my darn hedge
which bit doesnt he understand.....
the whole fickin hedge is mine not just half the top

i had this with a previous neighbour. woke up one sunday morning (early'ish about 8am) to the sound of a hedge trimmer. walked out into my front garden to notice that i could now see my neighbour's garden to the left! well i suppose he was doing me a FAVOUR, but i also wondered if this was a SUBTLE hint for me to tend to my greenery more often...
