Can we have a competition to see how many other numpties and bleeding heart liberals we can get to take part in this, and then let's BOMB THE BASTARDS!!!

Briton volunteers as 'human shield' for Iraq

It's not only Iraqi lives that could be at stake if the UK goes to war with Baghdad. One British peace activist is planning to put his life on the line, as a "human shield".
In the UK there is little appetite for a war with Iraq, according to the opinion polls. But few who oppose military conflict would go to the same lengths as Matt Barr.

If Tony Blair gives the green light for bombing raids, the 21-year-old peace activist plans to be on the first flight out to Baghdad.

As part of a "peace delegation", Mr Barr hopes his presence would deter American and British bombers.

His primary role would be to "show solidarity" with the Iraqi people and "bear witness" to the war.

But with plans to visit key installations such as power stations and sewage works, the 21-year-old from Chichester, West Sussex, could also become a "human shield" against the Western forces.

The delegation is being organised by Voices in the Wilderness, a charity which campaigns for an end to economic sanctions against Iraq.

"When you are participating in a non-violent resistance movement there comes a point where, personally, I have to be willing to put your whole self into the firing line," says Mr Barr.

Having visited Iraq in December last year and met many "ordinary people", Mr Barr says he feels "passionately that I couldn't just stand by and watch this happen".

"The mass of people in Britain are opposed to this war but that's not having any effect on Tony Blair, which is not how democracy works."

Well that will certainly put a stop to talk of war. The majority of world leaders seem to be against it and he's ignored them, but I'm sure when Mr Bush hears of this bloke he'll re-consider !

I imagine that Mr Barr will find out exactly what Blair meant when he said we must be prepared to pay the blood price....

Yes the Iraq people are nice, but the bosses are not so they should be deposed. Maybe he could get that into his thick head....

Marvellous idea! Nice to know there are still a few of us left at the back! Sensible policies for a flatter Iraq.

On a semi-serious note, though, I'm more concerned by the Bin-Laden brigade.

I fully expect to see a chemical attack on us or Uncle Sam sometime soon. And then it'll be nuke 'em high.

Only prob is WHO to vapourize?

It was SO much easier at Rourke's Drift...

I'm happy to see France go, I don't holiday there and I've never really cared for them.

Any country that can't defend it's own borders twice in 30 years lacks serious credibility in my book.

Why not shoot the twat before he goes and save him the airfare.

Did he show such annoyance when Saddam was busy mass murdering millions of Kurds a few years back??

Will he moan when Saddam develops a Nuclear weapon and murders millions of Jews with it?

Was he protesting in Kuwait when Iraq illegally invaded it?

Think not.

Shoot the twat, or better still let him bloody go out there. He will almost certainly die. Do w*nkers like him think the New York attacks were justified then?
