If your car isn't powerful get on the roads nearby in the forest, I followed this advice and had an absolute blast coming from Zurich and heading up to Stuttgart but went up the whole length of the forest before heading across to Stuttgart. Reason I was given is that the 500 can be difficult to pass on as it's very twisty and can have a lot of traffic. The roads nearby had virtually nothing on them when I drove through in June a few year ago
I drive a lot on the fantastic empty roads of the Spanish side of the Pyrenees.
When I drove the B500 on the way to Stuttgart, I thought it utter rubbish. Little overtaking, stuck behind buses. lorries etc etc .... and this was on a week day in March.
I turned off and headed onto other roads which were much quieter.
