997S at Porsche Aberdeen

Hi

I'm just checking on the off chance to see if anyone knows this 997 (silver 2006 Carreras S) at Porsche Aberdeen?

I'm on the look out for a 997 and this ticks some if not all the boxes. I've sent an initial email to the dealership asking about the history of the car. Would be useful to understand if this is a known car to any PH'ers

Don't know the car but I enquired about it earlier this week.
It's been serviced by an independent and they won't give the 2 yr warranty against it despite the ad saying so.
Comes with a 1 yr warranty with a relatively low claim limit.
Sounds ok otherwise

OPC won't give fill AUC warranty ?!?! Is tat possible/allowed ?!

Mmmm, personally this seems neither great value nor is it in any way an unusual spec. Can't speak for condition.
Has it had the 111 point inspection - should have if sold as approved used.

You could say it's a fully priced Gen1 with a standard spec but with OPC premium and a limited warranty.

Depending on the terms of the warranty, I'd consider either spending more for a Gen 2 or getting a full Hartech-rebuilt Gen 1 for less with bullet proof engine.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still waiting on a response from the dealership on a number of points including whether a bore scope has been undertaken etc.

It's not showing up on the Porsche website as an approved user car when I've searched. It does make me wonder if it's officially considered as an AUC or the umbrella company (Peter Vardy) is trying to pass off the car as something it's not. That may explain the warranty limitations?

Good point re a car that's had the Hartech rebuild.

Excuse my ignorance but I believe the carerra s has a 3.8 engine the non s version has a 3.6 engine.

Therefore it’s not a carrera s or it has a 3.8 engine. Either way you need to clarify it.

Of course I may be talking tosh in which case I apologise.

Have to tried Kenny Dunn ?. I'm sure he could find what your looking for, and he's a great guy to deal with. Most of his business is repeat customers.

If a cars under 14 years old you can put an OPC warranty on it
if the last service wasn't a main dealer one then it must have a large 4 year/ 40,000 mile service done to pass the 111 point inspection.

i.e they can put a 2 year opc warranty on it, but it will cost them!

Couldn't agree more re Kenny Dunn. I bought another car from him back in May and went to see him about a non S 997 that he'd had since early summer. Beautifully presented and the interior was as new. Now sold I believe.

I'd also picked up on the 3.6 versus 3.8 in the ad. Good spot. Assumed it's the 3.8 from the red calipers etc but would confirm that amongst other things before travelling.

The Dealership are slow to respond via email despite initially coming back quite quickly. Will try to call them today rather than pinging back and forward.

Kenny is semi retired these days, but still trading. Hence sometimes slower to respond. If you want anything checked out prior to travelling down let me know. I'm in Edinburgh pretty much every weekend, and have done so for a couple of people previously. Who both bought!

I called Aberdeen Porsche this afternoon and although very helpful, they made it clear that it's not an Approved Porsche car despite the ad positioning the car as such. This appears to be due to the non OPC history but also because the car has been recorded in rev range 4. The ad has also been updated overnight removing the reference to the 2 year warranty and replaced with '12 month Peter Vardy warranty'.

Currently scratching my head on this as appears to have been misrepresented initially.

I paid thirty for an OPC 2005 car with the same mileage in January. PSE, carbon ceramics, short shift and sports suspension lsd options to give you an idea. 2 yr warranty included. Keep looking on OPC and one will come up or go for a Hartech or Autofarm rebuilt car.

The 997.2 I bought form an OPC earlier this year had an independent service in it's history, closely followed by an OPC service and they were happy to put a 2 year warranty Porsche warranty on it (actually 2 years and 4 months, as it still had some of it's previous warranty left to run, which was a pleasant surprise).
