It's rare that anything really takes me by surprise these days, but THIS is staggering !

Even for Tory filth this is appaling.
Just how low are the Conservative prepared to go ?
Bad Tories,

The Guardian - the paper for the intellectual elite said:
Ed Matts, the Conservative candidate in Labour's most marginal seat of Dorset South, thought he might garner a few votes when he appeared at a rally last month to show his support for the heart-rending case of the Kachepa family who are facing deportation. In a coup he managed to haul in Ann Widdecombe, who held a banner at the rally proclaiming: "Let Them Stay"
Eagle-eyed Labour activists could hardly believe their luck when a completely different version of the same picture appeared on Mr Matts's election leaflets. The striking figure of Ms Widdecombe is still there, alongside the aspiring MP. But the crowds have disappeared and Mr Matts's picture of the Kachepa family and the words on Ms Widdecombe's banner have been replaced with words supportive of the party's tough line on immigration.
Conservative HQ defended his actions. A spokesman said: "Ed Matts excluded the family who appeared in the original photo by creating a new image in order to protect them from media attention........."
Just how low are the Conservative prepared to go ?

Apparently not...

"A Conservative candidate has apologised for "doctoring" a photo of him campaigning for an asylum seeker....In a statement, he said: "I apologise for making a foolish mistake - I had no intention of causing any embarrassment. "
Ah, the grand old tradition of political sleaze..I feel all 1990s.

The Guardian has it's faults, but it would be just as easy to accuse The Mail of being rabidly right wing to the exclusion of honesty and integrity.
The Guardian is usually pretty truthful in it's reporting regardless of one's personal bias and beliefs. It does have a left wing agenda though.
both sides as bad as each other: photo shopping, vote rigging, mandelson and the property, cherie taking £100k from a cancer charity for giving a talk etc etc
i hate politicians. both (in fact, all) sides, as bad as each other - just depnds which paper you read as to which appears worse.

The Conservatives are institutionally stupid IMO. I vote for them only on principle. The candidates are usually pretty weak, boring "Rotarian" types with little or no fire in their bellies.
They need a big shake up, image- and policy-wise. Actually not even a shake up. A complete ground-up rebuild.

They're all at it: I had a Labour leaflet through the door last night. Apparently they've built two new hospitals and employed 849 new doctors and 2365 new nurses in the Bristol area. I'd love to know where they've put them all
And apparently cancer deaths are down 12% (Compared to what???
TW@Ts.)
What a load of w

I got that one too. Where are those hospitals? I'm sure I'd have noticed them. All I ever hear about is whether they're closing Frenchay, or Southmead..
