I'm thinking of installing a clock in the Seven, I know such luxuries are frowned upon.....but I'm always out too long enjoying myself which only gets me into bother :-)

The clock I've seen requires a three wire connection, presumably a earth, permanent live and a switched live. The earth and the permanent live should be straightforward but I'm wondering where best to pick-up the switched live.

Does the ignition switch on new cars have an accessory feed or would I need to come off something else, if so,what would you suggest? The cigarette lighter seems to have a permanent live.

Cheers.

I have a 52mm round analogue clock (similar to the fuel gauge dials etc) that I was going to sell if you're interested?
Will have to work out a price, and find it first though!

I would expect for a clock, the third wire is for a light. There's not a lot of point having a permanent and switched live in a clock. Most of the instruments have a light feed as well, so just tap into one of those.

When I had intermittent alternator issues I wanted to get a voltmeter, so fitted a gauge into the passenger knee panel. It's in sight of the driver but not obtrusive or needing a ho,e in the dash.

Ps. Wear a watch?

One of these for me as I'm aero'd and wanted waterproof. Available in silver too.

I've gone for one of these:

They have a metal lug on the back of the case which I've cut off so the clock will sit close to the dash. Works pretty well to the "R" spec carbon dash.

Ah, forgotten about the protruding bit on the back. I actually cut a hole in the dash and used the supplied foam ring and a large washer and secured it to dash from behind. That way it can't be nicked....
