Morning all. I`m getting pretty frustrated. When I bought my S2 about 8 months ago, I thought it was the most wonderful thing on the planet. Sure it needed a little work on the body, but nothing too serious. However, looking at the profiles of some of you, and seeing the wonderful looking `s` cars posted, it has filled with me shame. Am I driving the tattiest S2 going ? Does anybody else drive a car around with more crazing than a paving convention ? Everybodys bonnet sits perfectly, yet mine kind of slopes forward.....There must be somebody else running a less than perfect car ??!! Am I letting the TVR marque down ???!! SOB......

no i've seen worst,
on mine i have took the body off repaired/repainted the chassis ,had cracked and crazed paintwork (i had a minor mishap which ended up in a respray) took weeks to alignt the bonnet ,also had a list of other things i need doing
including reparing roof panels ,lugs broken
so don't despair ,enjoy the car for what it is
a TVR
Don't worry, I think the "finished, pristine" ones are in the minority. We all have jobs on our lists. It takes time and money and I'm always short of both!
I'm planning to re-connolise the leather on my seats and fill/repair a little nick in the driver seat.
I've already done the carpets and they are fine.
All the mechanics are spot on now except a leaking water pump and a very minor seep from the tank sender. I have a brand new water pump ready to fit and I'm getting a new stainless fuel tank made. I've had a new stainless custom exhaust made and fitted. I want to fit new headlights and uprate them a bit for better light output.
I have three or four scuffs on the body that I need to prep and the upper surfaces are a bit flat and won't polish up so I'm planning a complete respray.
Then hopefully, the S will be finished!
Should take about 5 years at my current rate of progress

Don't be worried about some crazing on a car that is now 15 years or more old. It is very difficult to remove and will soon reappear after a normal respray.
Just accept it as patina of a classic.
Those that have been resprayed may have something to hide whereas the original paint with crazing shows the true state of your classic.
Far more important is to get it jacked up and get the chassis hammerited and then waxoyled.
I have just spent the weekend repaintint the chassis and all is still safe and very sound after 17 years.
Once the hammerite is solid I'll douse the lot in Waxoyl and rest easy until the end of autumn when I'll give it anothe dose.
One thing to watch when polishing, light cream polish will fill and highlight the crazing.
I fill the crazing with the nearest colour Meltonian shoe polish which helps to make it blend.
Remember people dont only look at your S they listen!!
Enjoy the summer

Thanks people....I can rest easy tonight!! Couldn`t resist taking the old girl for a late night blast round the Medway towns, and guess your right...It`s the sound of an `s` in full flight that people appreciate as well as the looks!

Cars always look better in photos, dont worry they are all flawed in some way or other, no TVR is perfect? If you saw mine when I bought it you wouldnt recognise it, it was a mess, just take your time and slowly do the jobs, you will soon have it looking as good as it sounds

If it make you feel any better !!!
My bonnet is still upside down on the bench having large 'v' slots cut into the cracks to enable a 'proper job' repair. There is evidence of at least two, maybe three accident repairs so a log way to go yet and we haven't even started on the crazing top side. Then I have a repair to do on a door edge and work out how to change the mirrors before it goes for paint. The worst part is not being able to drive it at the moment
, I have to keep thinking how good it will look when it goes back on the road.
All the rough examples I looked at before I picked up this one must still be on the road so that makes me feel better

Cricky! Wouldn`t it have been easier to buy a new bonnet ? I need a new replacement hinge on one side of mine. It`s currently held on by a coach nut and bolt, hence the leaning! Any ideas where I get one from ?
Hi, think mine might be a contender for the worst of the bunch (we'll see at 'S' Club Heaven 111), after i fetched the front end off in black ice, it is now splitting and is crazzed to buggery, and i rarely wash it, she is being used all the time, my daily and only transport. Also, headlamps need replacing, dash needs redoing, seats are knackered.......and the list goes on......, already spent thousands!!....oh the joy!

Your car looks very nice and you have a fine taste in wheels
What size tyres are you running?
Mine are 17" and 40 profile which are too lower aspect IMHO, yours appear to fill the arhes a lot better.

Cheers, mine are 17" like yours but they 225/45, and they do REALLY fill arches, also they are a little higher and i only just skim over speed humps. All I need now are some tvr centre caps!

thinking ahead to my respray, I may be tempted to go for a pearlescent white.
