I have booked flights for a short trip to Japan (5 days) and will be flying by ANA from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo
I've never been before but since we live on this side of the world now we are slowly exploring the rest of Asia. I'm after a few pointers:

- We'll be staying quite central in Tokyo and assume the metro/underground is the best way to get around. Can I buy a 5/7 day unlimited use pass? Or is it better to buy individual trips?
- We are also planning an overnight stay at Mount Fuji. Is it better to book the bullet train in advance? If so, where is the best/cheapest to buy?
- Any recommendations of some good places to eat? We will be staying around Nishikasai
- Anything else we should be aware of / must visit / need to know?
photographs on your phone of important things you may need to find (toilet, taxi, ATM, etc) as not many Japs speak English and many areas outside tourist / business districts don't have signage in English.
Be careful with the bogs, one of the buttons is nice warm water on the old balloon knot, the other is a seriously icy blast that certainly wakes you up!

I used to visit Tokyo quite a lot and I found it much easier to use the Limousine Bus service between the airport and hotel. Not as quick as the Narita Express but more relaxing.

Getting around Tokyo is straightforward. The Yamanote-line covers the key areas of Tokyo and most stations have ticket machines in English.

The subway is easy to use too and again most stations have ticket machines in English.
I used to just pay on a trip by trip basis, so can't comment about travel passes.
Akihabara is the area to visit if you are into technology / electronics. Also the Sony Building in Ginza is worth a visit too.
As said above be careful what buttons you press on the toilets and don't press the one which looks a woman as it will hurt
The Imperial Palace is worth a look as is Tokyo Tower for the view. You can get a great view of the city from this building.

Last time I was there was 2005 and it still sticks iny mind how much some of the rounds of drinks cost. It was expensive then and I don't imagine it has changed.
