It is a car that doesn't appear to be particularly well liked here, so I thought I'd stand up for it!
We've just bought a new q7 to replace a brilliant - but unfortunately, given it was only 18 months old, too small - petrol A4 all road (which replaced an E-class estate, a 3.0 diesel a4 and a brilliant s4 which I think was bought by a piston heads member)
Having looked at the new discovery (I just couldn't get on with the shape), xc90 (I seem to have been very unlucky with my local dealer who seemed incapable of actually selling me a car!), x5 (wanted to like the 40d - but struggled) and various other things - I settled on a fairly standard 272 sline q7.
Whilst average on the outside it's a brilliant car inside, supremely comfortable, quick enough and (so far - 2 days in!) it appears very well put together.
It's worth having a look at if you're after a large family car!

I'm just playing mate, congrats on the car.
It took me a while to like the new Q7's, I thought they were "boxy". That said my favourite has to be the facelift model just before the new shape came out, smashing car albeit expensive.
Anyway, have fun with it.
