Hello guys just thought I’d ask if this had happened to anyone else: (The background- I’ve had my foot in cast for a few weeks and as I cant drive some of my mates have offered to take the Elise out for a spin). Now the other week one of my mates said “I’ll take it out for a spin, but then again perhaps not, people may think I’m a hairdresser” cheeky wanger! Baring in mind he is roughly the same age as me (early 30’s -so not too old), this is a man who is smitten with the Audi! Currently has an Audi 80 and now wants an A3!
Has anyone else come across people referring to an Elsie as a hairdresser’s car? What should I do?
A) Beat the man senseless
B) Disown him as a friend
C) Take him for a ‘real’ spin
D) All of the above (but with ‘C’ first)

Thanks
Tanman

Or realise that he does not posess either the intelligence or the taste to apreciate the error of his statement, but A is still a good option!

All of the above with C first.

I must say i have always liked the Elises but when i had porsches i didnt think i could live without the power even though i knew they were all about the handling. i didnt think this alone would make up for it. Now i am truley smitten with the Loti. I would highly recomend them to anyone. the outlay alone is much less and the fun factor is huge. People stare and point, all good feed back.
Take him for a spin and he will soon forget his hairdresser ideas of the car.

Both go on a trackday in your own cars.

Unless he is getting an Audi S3 he will have a fine hairdresers car.

S3 is boring and slow. I took my friend out in my 111R just after he baught a A4 quattro turbo S. After he was able to talk again, the first thin he said was "I cant do anything to keep up with that"

Colleague at work said that of mine.

I laughed - he is fat, short and thinks his company Focus C max 1.8 is the height of automotive engineering

Other comments have been positive - I mean there's no where for them to put their hairdryers and shit LOL

I have had similar comments from people who know very little about cars (and in some cases cannot even drive)

I think this can be the perception of an ignorant person due to the size, relatively low power output(s) and the fact it has a soft top - obviously such folk are not enlightened to the Chapman philosophy - and would certainly not realise that the modest size and weight is in pursuit of optimal handling.

Fools the lot of them!!!

No, it isn't that laser blue but ICE blue, that ain't for hairdressers- more like a colour for a sexual tyrannosaurus, just like me (anybody recognise that line? clue- Arnie film)

He clearly knows nothing about cars so just treat him with the contempt he deserves and give him a big W/(hatever)!

How's your relationship with the side of the road coming along? Bought shares in AA/RAC/Green Flag (delete as appropriate) yet?
