Haibike electric bikes

Anyone here got a Haibike electric bike?

Im seriously considering buying one from their upcoming 2018 range, partly for commuting. Ive heard nothing but good reviews about them. Im attending a BikeFest that a local bike dealer is holding at a local park later this month, where I'm going to try different models. They use both Bosch and Yamaha 250W motors.

Ive narrowed the models down to the Cross and the Trekking

It's a good idea to try them, as I thought I knew what I wanted until the test ride.

I have a Scott, but don't expect a Haibike to be much different. At the time the Scott was cheaper, like for like.

I've only tried the Bosch power units. The Yamaha will probably have a different feel. I imagine the Yamaha will be fine.

Ive just got a Trek which was on the budget I wanted and good spec. So far so good - great fun on the hills.

I was keen to get the bosch power unit and liked the more integrated look for the battery on the 2018 trek.

Its so help with a bad knee and got me out when I wouldn't have done so otherwise.

The Haibike pedelecs are very popular in Germany.

Whether that's because they are genuinely better than the competition or just cheaper, I couldn't say, but you do see a lot of them about.

Maybe it's because Germans like buying German brands.

Whichever you choose, if there is an option for a larger capacity battery, take it.

I've hired one a couple of times, really great fun, highly recommended. Be aware, they are heavy.

Definitely true - the Bosch pedelec motor seems to be miles more widespread than its Yamaha/Shimano/Bafang equivalents.

Haibike is a German brand and they use Yamaha motors, not exclusively Bosch.

Ha, I watched as a 50 something lady made her way up the Col du Tourmalet a few days ago. She wasn't even breaking a sweat in her jeans and blouse.

I'm rather sold on having an electric bike at some point.

Well since starting this thread Ive kind of switched from wanting a Haibike, to wanting a Cube ebike. Mostly based on price, and good reviews. Off to the Cycle Show later this month to have a looksie at the Cube stand.

Im liking the Cube Acid Hybrid One Allroad, with mudguards, lights and the new Bosch Active Plus motor and 500w battery..

I just bought a BMW ebike. The local dealer is selling them off at a big discount, having bought a job lot and been unable to shift them. It seems to have a good spec: Bosch Performance Line (older version) motor, hydraulic disc brakes, shimano Xt gears, continental tyres. Lovely paint finish as well. It's the cheapest I've seen an ebike with the Bosch system.

They will all be limited to 15mph assistance - you can of course go faster under your own steam.

None will provide pedal assist over 15.5mph if UK sourced bikes. In reality all they do is help you ride further and struggle less on hills, the average Joe can do 15.5mph pretty easily on the flat anyway, the law, as is generally the case in the UK, is an ass.

Nicely done - would never have thought of looking in my local BMW dealer.

I have a Cube hardtail eMTB and love it. I like the Cube brand, the 2018 e-bikes look good.

Now is the time to get a deal on a 2017 model, lots of dealers clearing stock before the new model.

I would go with Bosch motor and the largest battery.

I've got a Raleigh strada with the shimano steps system. Automatic gears is great, unsure if other systems have this. I like it a lot but like others have said 15mph so would be useful if it would stay on for longer. I've heard there is hacks and cheats off the net to make it stay on for as long as you want.
