I have a French trailer towed behind a French car. The trailer shows a maximum loaded weight of 500 kg.

What is the maximum autoroute speed I can drive at ?

I was led to believe it is 110 kph but having been passed by a number of others at 130 kph, I am now wondering !

It takes some getting used to....

Car + caravan under 3.5t Motorway. 81mph, 130km/h Other roads. 56-68mph, 90-110km/h
Car + caravan over 3.5t Motorway 56mph, 90km/h Other roads 50-56mph, 80-90km/h

Hope that helps.

I am led to believe you need to take into account the sum of ptac (poids total à charge) and not unladen weight. So a Land Rover with an empty trailer (even a small one) is over 3.5t according to the rules, even if empty.

Nice one M. Frog, I'd completely forgotten that bit!

Mind you, so have pretty much all of the big 4x4 drivers over here 😆😆
