I don't think we'll get half of those cracking stories back.

Nor an explanation from the moderator concerned.

It appears that derogatory reference and associated posts against some members were removed.

If posts are deemed to breach the rules, they will be removed and in this instance have been.

The rule of posting No.20 covers removal.

HTH explain.

It doesn't help to be honest mate.

My post RE the Aston Martin owner for example had no cause for removal. I didn't mention anyone on this forum.

Many other posts also were removed that from memory which were wonderful tales and again had no cause for removal.

Many people spent a lot of time writing / recalling these stories from their past and it's a bit of a piss-take for them to be removed to be honest, IF they were in keeping with the topic and rules.
Obviously if they were mentioning forum members etc then that's not acceptable.

To me it just seems rather than going through 6 pages and actually moderating someone has just gone "Screw that!" and deleted the whole thread bar the first few posts.

No it does not Al. My post made no mention of said member, and in deed I don't think breached any rules.

5 pages of posts cannot have all breached the rules.

I've no problem with moderation. But when we members have spect the time to write the posts the leastbthe moderators can do is not delete those within the rules at will.

The two latest posts explain my view.
Lazy moderation of posts entirely unrelated to specific members.

Hi all,

I'm really sorry but this was my fault. I'm filling in for Jack whilst he's away on holiday and accidentally deleted all posts after an offensive post, instead of just that post on its own.

I apologise to the members that took the time to write posts after that, I'll make sure I don't make this mistake again. I'll see if there's any way they can be recovered but I expect it's unlikely I'm afraid. I'll get my coat... getmecoat

Hi Ben,

No worries.
Mistakes happen, I'm sure we can all agree.
Thank you for being upfront and honest about what happened.

Thanks for the explanation Ben. As above mistakes happen and a quick explanation even on the thread would have got everyone's backs down

Thanks for the update and agree with others.

Can we repost from google cache if we believe our post doesn't violate the things set out?

I think you can safely ignore that post by WB. Or any of his other posts...

I assume he is a moderator from his post, is this not the case?

I had some posts deleted and got banned from a thread last week for daring to explain a post to someone who had jumped to a rather silly conclusion due to not having a clue what they were talking about.

How dare I!

Had an email saying nothing more than 'deemed trolling'

Brilliant.

At the risk of saying anything that others might deem offensive enough to report I would suggest that there are certain attributes required of a moderator that some posters are not yet possessed of.

There are also Mittys who like to pretend that they are mods and if asked outright say words to the effect that "You might think that i am, i could not comment".

Personally i have my own mental issues list of people who i see post and know that the likelihood of reading anything interesting or insightful is not high, not high at all. I'd even venture to say some are to the point where my greatest pleasure in seeing a post of theirs is that it reminds me that, no matter how bad things are, at least i am not them.

To be fair, forums are supposed to be self-moderating and in an ideal world the Moderators would rarely need to get involved.

It does seem like that there a lot of reporting of posts so PH must be full of very sensitive souls. I do wonder if there are people who make a hobby out of reporting posts and perhaps it's them that's the problem rather than what's being posted?

I'm not standing up for HM but it is their forum that we can all use FOR FREE so they can do what they like.

Anyway, someone has admitted to making a mistake and will no doubt sort it if it can be.

But they only have a forum due to our content... we exist side by side
