Contractor to Permanent for the Same Company

Having been with the same company for some time, they have now offered me a permanent position. I was wondering if its possible to get any perks brought into my contract, like extra holiday for the number of years I have been off service to them. Or should I be made redundant that the previous years are included in the redundancy package.

If anyone has any tips with negotiating contracts it would be greatly appreciated as I have no experience with this.

Unless things have changed, any such perks will be provided on the good graces of your employer rather than by force of legislation.

When I did the same thing, they had a requirement that there was a one week break between me stopping contracting and starting again as an employee. This was in place specifically to prevent any kind of claim of continuous employment or anything similar.

Bear in mind there might be a penalty clause, in the contract they have with your current agency, to be paid if they recruit you directly. This could be quite a hefty sum which might impact how generous they can be as part of 'recruiting' you.
