To scrap or repair?
Discussion
My girlfriends ford KA just failed MOT. It's a 55 plate and failed on rust. We bought it 2 years ago for just over 1k and recently (2 months) put a new alternator in it. (Cost us about 200).
There is rust on the wheel arches and under the rear bumper. We've been told it will be between 1/2 to a full days welding (£400-600). With the extra little repairs it needs we're looking upwards of 600.
What I would like to know of you good people is do I write it off or put the money in?
I know it wouldn't be worth much but we'd keep it until it died. Everything runs fine with the car and we have another 2 weeks until the old MOST expires. My main concern would be having to fork out the same thing for our next MOT.
