I'm faffing about trying to mount bucket seats into my 996, getting them as low as physically possible. Browsing through various side mounts I came across these for an MX5, that look as though they could work in a 996 ? The angled front bit is similar. I guess it just depends on the length. It's a LOT cheaper than the B-K offerings !

LINKY

Anyone got an MX5 they could measure ??

Design 911 have some mounts that are much cheaper than brey Krause. I fitted them to my 986 & they were fine.

I've already got the Design911 side mounts, they don't get me low enough and I wasn't massively impressed with them anyway. They also took two months to arrive...

The "heavy duty" ones with the mount for the belt buckle?

Fair enough - mine took 2 days to arrive & the seat when fitted (sparco pro 2000) was pretty much as low as it could get.

Well, I've ordered one. I'll report back in a week or so once I've had a chance to utterly fail to make it work.

It nearly worked. A slight tweak to the angle of the mounting points, and filing a bit of a slot to allow the bolts to line up, and it goes in fine. Unfortunately I need it further back, and with more of a backwards tilt than this bracket allows.

They wouldn't need to change the design by much to create a useful product IMO.

Use them as a template and make the changes you need, then get them CNC cut and bent by an engineering firm.

I have used a firm run by a guy I went to school with to make lots of bespoke brackets and plates for boats and boat trailers over the years - if you bring your own design they can have it scanned in, cut and bent in no time.

I'd thought about that but wasn't sure what the cost would be like ? Do you literally do them a scale drawing, they scan it in and the end product (more or less) pops out the other end ?

Most of the stuff I have made I have used card to make a 1:1 template, drawn it out more neatly 1:1 on A4 or A3 and given it to my mate Colin with the bends and angles marked.

They have a scanner that converts this into their CAD which in turn programmes the laser cutter to cut the sheet and then they bend it.
