2006 Volvo V70 2.4 SE

Hi everyone.
This is my Volvo V70. 2.4 petrol SE. I've had it for just over a year and it was in terrible condition when I bought it at 140k. The previous owner appeared to have crashed it into a fence on the nearside and attempted to repair it by covering it in light blue Dulux paint - the front wings were all creased, nearly every panel was knackered with streaks of blue paint all over it, the mirrors were trashed, headlight units had gone brown and the interior was like a kennel.
(I'll upload pics of what it looked like when I got it if anyone is interested)
It had obviously not been serviced in some time as the oil had gone solid and the engine had a metal-on-metal clattery sound so that all needed flushing through and sorting.
I replaced both headlight units and had all the bodywork fixed - they did every panel except the boot, bonnet and roof. Put some decent tyres on it (it had brands I'd never heard of on the car when I got it) and replaced the middle and rear sections of the exhaust.
Now on 155k it drives brilliantly. I'm 28 and my previous car was a Jaguar X-Type 3.0 so used to having fairly unusual cars for someone of my age I guess.

We have one too, 2005, scratches on every corner and curbed alloys..only had it a couple months so, I've slowly set about sorting it out.
Spent the morning with T-cut and a polisher......still doesn't look as good as yours.
For some reason, I love driving it, pop two dogs in, mountain bike across the rear seats and then off to the hills.

I admit it's not the most interesting car on here but I think its sad when cars are mistreated and basically left to die - this Volvo would've been dead ages ago had the engine not been sorted out and all because people didn't maintain it properly. Giving it a new life does give me that warm fuzzy feeling.

Get the before pics up! Looks like you've done a great resto job though, well done. I'm guessing that you've had to throw a fair amount of money at it?
I paid £1,600 for the car itself and spent almost the same again on fixing it. £600 to fix the bodywork. £300 for the exhaust. Cost me about £150 to get the oil issue sorted. I did the headlight units but they cost me £200 for an aftermarket set. I also spent £200 on fitting rear parking sensors after I had a..ahem..mishap in it just before Christmas.Edited by Anglian Red on Saturday 12th August 22:54
Lovely to see it brought back from the dead, even if it made absolutely no economic sense whatsoever to do so 
I like the NASP 5 pot, what it lacks in outright guts in comparison to the turbocharged cars it makes up for with a nicer 5 pot warble and near total indestructibility. A rare engine choice in the later P2 cars too.

Echo what's been said above, I bought mine because we were rennovating a house and it was cheaper than renting a couple of skips.
A year later and 10k miles and it's still here, just about to hit 100k. For the £25 in tax/month to have it sitting there on standby I just can't bring myself to get rid of it as it just continues to impress plus I'm actually really fond of it. Did the oil pan seals recently which was a big job, but enjoyable - should be good now for another decade or so!

I'd like to challenge that point sir! I couldn't find one of these in this condition for sale for anything under £4k. I went 200 miles to Bradford to see one at £2995 which was a bag of s.
t, turned round and came straight back. I wouldve had many more cars to choose from if I wanted the D5 or something, but I don't like diesel so had to go to these lengths to get the 2.4 petrol.

Ive had 2 and both were far from indestructable as they had head gasket failures at 120k & 140k....i like the look of them but id never touch another.I like the NASP 5 pot, what it lacks in outright guts in comparison to the turbocharged cars it makes up for with a nicer 5 pot warble and near total indestructibility.
