Game of thrones thread closed??

Simple question. Why? and by whom?

Basically a few people are trying to subvert the established and excepted rules of the thread.

Instead of sorting it out the mods shut a long running and well supported thread down.

So the mods have waved a white flag to the trolls?

The whole thing is pathetic. No one posted spoilers, it was a few comments about how people enjoyed the episode - mine was a joking "I have no opinion one way or the other" and it got removed. They aren't spoilers, they're opinions. I'm certain that a few posters just visit the thread throughout the day so they can act indignant about how others have already seen it. Here's an idea - don't click on the thread on Monday until you've seen the episode. It's not hard.

I pretty much got banned from the thread for saying the same thing.

It seems that some people only lived to read the thread and then complain to the mods that their enjoyment of the program had been spoiled because they couldn't resist reading the thread before the program was shown for the 3rd time on tv.

Just posted that if you didn't want the chance of seeing one, don't click on the thread between 2am and 10pm on a Monday, just in case somebody decided to be a tt.

Mods: a request. Could we have my thread reopened please, and stick to the zero policy of comments concerning the awesomeness/failure of the latest episode before the 9pm showing, or can I open another thread, stipulating the convention which be allowed to be kept open?

I'm a big GoT fan however anyone who would get upset/annoyed/sad at seeing a spoiler on the thread needs to get a grip.

ETA: The tantrums towards the end of the thread are embarrassing.

I agreed with you initially but then I thought TBF, you could just as easily NOT post about the episode at all until after it's been shown.

These shows are kind of viewed like live sports events but on uk showing times as the majority are watching then.

If you're watching it early, you're in the minority so unfortunately the onus is on you to avoid discussing it, as opposed to expecting others not to read the thread. I expect plenty of people want to discuss it as it's being shown.

But yes, If I don't want to see a F1 result until I've watched it delayed, I avoid things like watching the news or the F1 thread 'till I've seen it.

A *GoT spoilers included* spoilers was started and removed a year or so ago. Because the Moderators would still have to read it, and as they watch it....

This is what happens when you piss them off, their toys, their rules.

But the episode had been shown by that point. The other week I was at work all day Monday and had to go out in the evening so didn't get a chance to see it until Tuesday. To avoid spoilers, I just didn't click on the thread. The episode wasn't being discussed either, people just mentioned they liked it. Even then, we have spoiler tags for this exact thing which are used in all other topics, it's just certain people throwing a tantrum on the GOT thread. If we go by the logic of some posters on that thread we shouldn't be talking about any film or tv show just in case someone had seen it.

Oh a joke about living with my mum. With such razor sharp and original wit I'm surprised they haven't asked you to join the GoT writing team I don't really know how much more simple I can make this, but for those who don't have access to a dictionary:

You are ignoring the fact that the Moderators don't get a choice, they have to read it & if a spoiler is posted; it's been spoiled for them! When it's reported, they ALL see it. Is that fair, to spoil things for those that help keep PH running?
