Hi guys,

Your thoughts?

Low miles (not sure how many) and FSH.

Standard model it seems, without Leather.

Up for £11500 from a dealer with option of RAC warranty?

Worth a look ? Am thinking of offering £11000

Anything I should specifically ask?

thanks.

Take someone with you who knows something about Elises.

Or take it for a test drive via a specialist so they can check it over.

How does it compare with others you've seen or vs. whats in the classifieds?

Check the warranty in detail - some aren't worth the paper they're written on.

I thought it was a bit cheap!

It looked ok at first until I looked closely.

Me to dealer "Anything you can tell about it? Why doesn't the driver door close properly without scraping? Why is there a larger gap above the nearside wheel than the offside? Why is there paint overspray around the nearside headlight? Why is the rear plate different to front and brand new? etc.."

Dealer "Dunno mate, I'm selling it for someone, dunno anything"

Me "ermm ok, can I see the history file, you said it has fsh"

Dealer "Oh yeah, the owner is still looking for it"

Me " Thanks but no thanks" as I walk off into the sunset.

Oh well, the search continues, budget upto 12k if you know of anything

On the classifieds here I counted 12 possible cars which go upto 13k (which would be upper bargaining point for you I guess).

I quite like the look of these ones:

Plenty of straight genuine S1s to be had for £12K. Buy privately. Old adage - nice people and nice cars go together. When it is wheeled out of the garage gleaming like a pin, the owner has all the history, you're on to a winner.

Rather like the bloke who bought my S2.

My lightly modded '98 Azure Blue S1 will be going up in the classifieds in the next week or so for similar money.

That's the plan mate. My house sale should go through in the next few weeks and then its shopping time.

Bit of a shame really as my car is now running better than ever. It had a replacement head put on following a mild dose of HGF, has new rear Advans and brake pads all round. Still on less than 19,000 miles too.

I've had it for a while now and fancy a change. Also plan on doing quite a few track days and while mine was great fun on track I really need more power. At my last day at Castle Combe I was all over the back of some guy in a Mitsubishi in the corners so on the straight he pulled over to let me overtake and I just didnt have the legs to do it.

Hopefully an Exige should sort that out

Wicked mate, are you going to buy another house or rent? I'm in the same boat I'm selling my house in Dartford and I'm trying to buy another in Greenhithe
