"Bond fans around the world will be shaken and stirred today by reports that the hunt for the new 007 is over - actor Daniel Craig appears set to slip into the tuxedo vacated by Pierce Brosnan..."

Not my first choice, I would have gone with Clive Owen.

He's a lot younger than the other Bonds too.

Excellent.

Daniel Craig was superb in Layer Cake, and looks like a proper Bond. Superb choice, much better than Clive Owen would have been IMHO!

Can't wait for the new film now!

I personally would have said Clive Owen too (especially after I saw him in King Arthur. Unsure about the film but definately thought he was the next Bond!).

It looks like they've tried to make Bond a bit too modern, perhaps? Rather than the smooth, more discerning, slightly older gentleman, they've got a younger, more Mel Gibson in Lethal weapon type role, than Mac in Entrapment!

Edit: to say actually I've never seen the guy they've picked in anything, he could well be very good!

Going on just that photo alone, he does look the part - suave yet dangerous.

(I haven't seen Layer Cake)

What a fantastic choice, he really did make layer cake a great film (or was that the absence of Guy sodding Ritchie).

edit: actually Michael Gambon made layer cake a great film, and would be a very entertaining bond, but Boris Johnson would be my 1st choice.

In the fanciable stakes, Daniel Craig is equal to Clive Owen as far as I'm concerned.

Boris Bond on a bicycle?

"Yes, well, I-I-I-I-I-I, well get out of the way, I-I-I-I-I-I'm needed in Liverpool. I-I-I'm Bond you know....Who am I, again?"

Saw Layer Cake and I reckon this guy would be a great choice. Good actor.....dies well.

Well at least Dougray Scott didn't get it, that would have been too much to bear.

Anyone who hasn't seen Layer Cake, you've realy missed out. I was worried it would be a poor Lock, Stock or Snatch rip-off but is very, very good, and Craig is excellent. He will make a superb Bond.
