My poor old pater-in-law: boy, do I feel sorry for him.

The personification of the old school work ethic, he recently retired after a successful career in engineering during which time he grafted from humble apprentice in the 1950s to Group MD of a local concern with factories here and in Europe.

He now works voluntarily with local training agencies to help the young 'uns get into and stick with all aspects of engineering per se.

He likes his Jag, his Sunday stroll and tinkering with Dibnah-spec devices within the converted garage of his default, quiet, middle class utopia.

I have never met a more decent, honest, upstanding chap. His blood, unsurprisingly, runs a bold, deep hue of blue...

However, amidst the placid toings and froings of suburbia, the rotten hand of social engineering has delivered a contemptuous blow.

For next door, some oinks of almost comedic proportions have descended. At least it might be funny if it were not for the chavular stench that surrounds them and engulfs the old man.

This family have, according to local newspaper reports, been awarded a vast sum of money by social services due to the 'disturbed' diagnosis of one of the male offspring. Although in no way physically disabled or incapable of regular cognitive activity, it has been deemed for some inexplicable reason that the family should be granted some unholy wad of cash with which to support young Biffa and obviously allow Mutha, Fatha and Bruvva to live in resplendant vulgarity within the rather pleasant ambience of a respectable locale, in perpetuity and obviously with no particular need to work. Ever again. (The sum mentioned has been circa £3m.)

Now, I had heard several horror stories but seen nothing myself, so last night, as I popped round to witness the old man's latest mechanical invention, it was with a sense of profound incredulity that the apparently normal Bruvva ~ not even the Sacred Turd Child itself ~ proceeded to scream the neighbourhood down with a stream of foul effulism and wild, manic gesturing, as the relationship with his latest Shaz or Tray was evidently coming to it's violent end in the road, right at the end of our drive...

As we both caught the attention of the exploding peasant, he twirled around from the assault on his equally hysterical companion and yelped aggressive threats our way, to wit, "did we want some?" and moments later, as the female stormed off, a glass milk bottle was launched in sheer frustration at an adjoining, driveway wall.

The drama continued unabated for the 90 minute duration of my stay and even as I drove off, abuse was hurled my way.

It was one of those Steven Segal moments where you wonder (a) should you take the scumbag on, risking an unholy escalation, or (b) do the classic 'English Thing,' bite one's lip, tip the head down and hope the stench dissipates?

It gives me no joy to confirm the wimpish latter but anything else would undoubtedly have unleashed a firestorm of ongoing property damage, burglary and general unpleasantness.

So the worst elements of the council estate had been unceremoniously deposited foursquare in middle England, once more.

The old boy reminded me that he had too been the product of a virtual slum in the post war period but frankly, that type of behaviour would have met with a decisive beating by an elder of sorts.

Would, or more significantly could the police do anything? The council? Ha! No, this was 'f@ck you, you bourgoise mug,' suicidal stuff.

So what's a life of wealth creation, immense graft, vast tax contribution and law abiding worth?

Answer? How about the Clampett Fortesque-Chavs to terrorise your twilight years and frail dotage, whilst the 'carer' parents simply recline in their upstairs water bed, watching the wall-mounted plasma, ordering pizza and 'gear' from their continued associates fom the gutter?

What a f@cking sh1t hole the county has become.

I know who I'd like to vote for but I don't think my politics are allowable even in private conversation.

Your Father has my sympathies DeRestrictor

To work hard all your life then have this scum move in next door-it is more than most men could bear.

When will the lunacy end?

I wouls apply the Ghengis Khan 'test of the wheel' in these cirumstances.

I fear there will be an EU directive forbidding such practical solutions.

Isnt it nice when the comfortable life you have made for yourself comes to an uprubt end via some thugs that have never worked a day in their lives, and yet take the GDP of a small country out of our taxes to pay for their drinking/smoking/drug habit...

Both you and your p-i-l have my heartfelt sympathy.

Mere words offer cold comfort and appear to carry shallow offers of support. This I fear is where this once great country is heading. Instead of allowing a diverse society, the socilalist goal seems to have been achieved, namely drag all of society down to the lowest common denominator...

We must resist, and battle forward with good manners etc without descending to the levels exhibited by your p-i-l's new neighbours.

I wish I could offer more than just moral support...

Best regards

Chris

The more i hear and experience this sort of thing the further i am pushed towards the conclusion that the only way forward is true social aparthied. Not a segregation along economic or racial lines you understand, but rather segregation of attitudes. In other words, defining a minimum level of behaviour and excluding those who are unable meet that minimum level. I envisage, on the one hand, communities populated by decent hard working, law abiding, honest, well mannered, moderately cultured people and on the other hand, communities populated by "NEETS" and football players (which are essentially the same thing). A society where class is defined not by money or educataion but by a core set of values. Will this ever happen? Not while politicians are trying to form some sort of horrendous inclusive society it won't

perhaps, due to the ridicule that is 'political correctness' we have started to pander to these absurd ideals. Perhaps it is time for us all to show our true colours and start to drag this country back up onto its feet?

What we need is a good old fashioned war to unite the country once more. Lets declare war on someone else this time round though eh, we might as well get in there first.. how about Brussels ?

Yes, indeed.

I've mused such a thing often. A neo-feudal system based on the surpression of the peasants but this time where peasantry is defined by pyschological predisposition rather than pure birthright or financial werewithall.

(Expect for the aristocracy who must be accepted as our 'betters,' lest folk get ideas above their station ~ a tendancy which has accompanied the slow decline of Albion.)

people are finding private sector solutions to the problem. Gated communities are where the rich are starting to retreat to, and in some London streets the residents employ private security guards to patrol the street.

Thats no solution though.

As the Earl has mentioned these scum are financially liquid enough to attain haven behind the very gates that are supposed to keep them out.

In NYC if you want to live in the better condo blocks you have to open your life, your financial record and your past to a commitee for approval. If you dont meet the criteria you dont get in, regardless of the amount of cash you have.

Combining such a system with gated communities is perhaps a closer workable solution.

Make antisocial behaviour an election issue. If the money and effort that went into scammeras was directed towards antisocial behaviour legislation and policing ?

But still there is a problem that it only benefits the rich-and alot of decent people will be left to fend for themselves.

By the way I thought DeRestrictor was a Baron.
