Would appreciate if people can recommend some larger bike shops in the South East. Specifically I am looking to buy a new MTB helmet.

Have been to some local bike shops, but they tend to have only a few in stock and out on shop floor, so rather go to a larger multi-brand place and try a few on.

Evans at Gatwick keep lots of stuff in stock, not sure on helmets though.
But you can check stock on their website to see if its worth a visit.

I'm not keen on evans either, but...
Thing is that the Gatwick branch is a bit special (kind of like an like an argos) - they have access to the mail order warehouse there so if they have it in stock online, you can buy it there and then. Like argos you do sometimes need to give them a few mins to fish it out of the back - they will let you handle the goods and give advice so you only need to pay for the item you're taking home. If you want to try on a wide range of helmets, I think it would work well. Their price match policy is great too, so many times I've wanted something like a chain, a lock, some lights, tyres, tool etc. and been able to get the item right now today and as cheap as as anywhere I can find it online.

If you go to Evans remember that they will price match almost anyone you find online. Just show them the price online on your phone.

Cycle surgery are worth a look too, and Condor cycles in the city.

They wouldn't price match Decathlon when I tried to buy a saddle .

They only have a certain list.

Sigma's prices on just basic monthly needs are really keen right now.

Sadly Sigma have hardly any helmets in, and not much if any mtb stuff stocked in their store.

Good that they price match though.

Good point re MTB - its a tiny market in London area I suppose, so most shops are more road focussed now.

That's a shame, was hoping to pop down to Sigma.

Will instead look at doing a large collect order to Evans and then just try and return there, along with online companies who do free returns. Condor is a shop I keep meaning to visit too.

Thanks guys.

Might be easier to just order a few from Wiggle/CRC and just send them all back but the one that hopefully fits

PS Can recommend the Giro Chronicle - bought one the other week. Giro helmets seem to work for me - had a Hex before and ride with a Atmos II on the road but this fits better than both of those.

It's still worth a visit , the shop is absolutely beautiful , just leave the credit card at home.

They have some real stunning stuff in there.

And Evans in Kingston have a pretty decent range of helmets, both road and mtb, so you can still have a browse in Sigma too (they are a 10-minute walk apart)

Just like Evans (Gatwick), Sigma Sport offers the same experience at their Esher (collection point - warehouse) location. A bonus is that Sigma has P1 International as neighbours, so you might see a nice Ferrari or Lamborghini etc.

Email websales@sigmasport.co.uk or use the chat function on their website they're super helpful.
