Daylight Running Lights
Discussion
Bought some LED bulbs to replace the yellowish ones on our new Peugeot based Elddis M/H and jolly good they are too, really nice bright bluish light. I like 'em. However they seem to give me a problem in that the "service" light on the dash came on and stayed on. Peugeot dealer says I have to change back to original bulbs or thinks maybe I can find some of the right resistance equivalence. So I pfaffed around and put the old bulbs in and the orange triangle service light's gone out and all is tickety boo.
To be totally fair, with the LED bulbs in, on switching ign on, I get a message on the dash saying Daylight Travelling Lights faulty, or something like that, but it goes out as soon as I move off
I really think the original bulbs look total carp and much prefer the look of the LED's so what can I do? Is there a higher/lower resistance LED bulb that will fool the ECU into thinking the bulbs are the correct ones? Of course another option is to put up with the service light being on all the time but that could mask any other issues that could arise.
All suggestions welcome please chaps/chapesses.

The basic problem is that LEDs are much lower resistance than traditional filament bulbs. Which is exactly why they use less electrickery... V=IR, and all that. The bulb failure looks for the resistance to know whether your bulbs are working. It's expecting to see the resistance of two normal bulbs - if it sees less, then one or both must be out, right...?
You could put additional resistors in the circuit - some LEDs come with them built in - but that's going to waste more electrickery by turning it into heat. Or you might be able to get the body control computer to look for the lower resistance - or simply stop looking. But that's going to be much more invasive.
So if you really, really prioritise the cosmetics, then you've got a choice - a bodge-around to negate the main actual functional benefit of LEDs, or investigate persuading the computer to ignore failed bulbs.
