Psychometric tests - online content
Discussion
So first stage of a phone interview passed and agreed a date for the face to face...when they drop the psychometric bit on me.
Don't mind admitting, having done one of these fairly recently and failed miserably I'm not relishing it. But going into it as positive as I can and will spend as much time as possible trying to get those cogs upstairs working.
I know there's a lot of content online, don't mind paying for it - any recommendations?

It includes the personality test (assume some kind of Myers-Briggs style), as well as the verbal/numeric tests. It's the latter I need to do work on. Having done one a few months back (and going in slightly over confident), I failed and application went no further so a pass/fail is on the cards for certain companies.
Don’t answer the questions with a theme running your head as to the answer you think they will want to hear. I’ve done that in the past, it makes you appear a very different person than you are. Just answer them truthfully.
In the past a HR manager showed me the results for all the guys who then worked on my team, (13 of them), rather disconcerting is the phrase I would have used to describe how accurate the results were.
As others have said, if you do a lot of research you can cheat the tests and you don’t/can't fail the tests. A lot of people who recruit others would be wise to remember this.

as already said above you can't really 'fail' the psychometric side of these -its just a tool to get a bit of an insight into how you think/interact with other people/etc. The bit you can fail dismally is the verbal/numeric side but you can drastically improve your score with a bit of practice. Most of the verbal/numeric questions you'll spend 75% of the time trying to work out what the question is actually asking and only 25% working out what the actual answer is. A bit of practice and you'll recognise the structure of the question much faster. Simply Google 'IQ test' for a load of examples -or buy a book of them. An hour or so of practice will get your brain in the right track. Gassing Station | Jobs & Employment Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
